Wyatt is a native of Ventura, California – a small beach city. He has blended art and action by starting Regenerated Art Co. http://www.regeneratedartco.us/index.html. 10% of all his design proceeds go towards helping Hands 4 Others solve the world’s water crisis. Wyatt was able to contribute to a water system installed in Barrio Coorpertivo, Mexico last summer and continues to work towards seeing more communities helped. He has also began designing and branding for nonprofits around the world – helping them in their efforts to change the world and tell their story.
Salik is currently engaging in collaboration projects to help displaced refugees in and around Europe. Salik is a talented writer, communicator, and empathizer. He has been able to build bridges at NYU between Hands 4 Others and other service clubs on campus. He has also been able to engage with several healthcare professionals to contribute funds to helping refugees. Since joining Hands 4 Others, Salik has been able to get a job with another nonprofit to help as many people as he can. You can check out some of his Think Pieces on the Hands 4 Others site.
Leah Woods has taken her passion for music to a whole new level. She has successfully gathered a whole team of talented and well-known musicians to write and donate songs for a charity album. The project’s name is Melodies 4 Water. Leah and her team of bands and artists are doing a series of benefit concerts and album sales to raise awareness and funds towards water systems in Chiapas, Mexico. Founder & President
Spencer was 16 years old when he first founded Hands 4 Others. He has helped transform H4O from an “idea on the back of a napkin” into an international movement. In May 2015, Spencer graduated from Westmont College with degrees in Business and Religious Studies. He is now running H4O full-time and is best known for his public speaking, strategic thinking, and motivational leadership. He is married to Shallon Dusebout and they live in Santa Barbara, CA.
Zak Shellabarger is a leader and motivator of youth. He has degrees in Management Communication and Global Politics from Cal State Channel Islands. Before H4O, he was a youth director and pastor, leading teams all over the globe to bring clean water and hope. His passion for positive peace and seeing young people change the world brought him to Hands 4 Others. He is happily married to Megan Shellabarger and enjoys surfing, backpacking, and good tacos on the beach.
Digital Marketing Manager
Chris Bague is our newest hire, coming from Thousand Oaks, CA. As a youth pastor, he has a passion to build up the next generation of leaders. He also has a love for digital marketing and design. He attended Moorpark College and CSU Channel Islands. He currently works at a church in Newbury Park and has been married to his wife, Amanda, since 2014.
As an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley, Drew leads a team that manages more than $2.5 Billion in assets. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2008, Drew co-founded and led The Specialized Equity Transaction Group at PaineWebber and UBS (after UBS acquired PaineWebber) for 20 years. While at UBS/PaineWebber, he and his partners orchestrated its growth from a start-up business unit to an integral part of the firm.
Drew’s current clients include Fortune 100 corporations, Forbes 500 Individuals and leading Private Equity and Venture Capital Funds around the globe. In addition to serving as Board Chair for Hands4Others, Drew serves on a number of other non-profit boards including Partners for Christian education, The Issachar Initiative and Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara as well as acting as a consultant to numerous charitable organizations. Drew has been married to his wife Vicki for 27 years and has 3 children (Spencer 22, Jessica 20, and Danielle 17). He lives in Santa Barbara, CA.
John has grown Davies Public Affairs to be one of the top 25 Public Relations firms in the nation. The firm represents an impressive list of clients from Exxon, Four Season’s Hotels, Mirant, to Colony Capital and Wal-Mart. Davies Public Affairs has been selected as the “Public Affairs Agency of the Year” twice in the past seven years. Along with various other national awards and recognition, Davies Public Affairs has been selected as the “Best Agency to Work” for in the Nation for five years running. In addition to serving as CEO and President of Davies Public Affairs, John is also the CEO of Blaze PR. Both firms have offices around the nation.
Davies has served his community in numerous ways including as chairman of the University of California Economic Forecast Project and as President of the largest scholarship foundation in the nation. Davies also founded a community based, national bank. He served as an Elder in his church and serves now as president of Partners for Christian Education (elementary school), Chairman of the Westmont College Foundation, and as a board member of Acres of Love (provides homes for AIDS orphans in South Africa). John and Nina live in Santa Barbara, CA and have three children.
Brent Reichard is the founder of the Habit Burger Grill. He started out his career at the age of 16 flipping burgers at the original Habit . Brent bought the original Habit in 1980 and slowly grew the chain to 20 units. In 2007, he sold 80% of the company to a private equity firm and remained on as CEO until 2009. Brent remained on the board until 2014 when the Habit went public.
Continuing his love and passion for the burger business, Brent started a new quick casual burger concept called Hook Burger in 2010. There are currently 6 units open and one under construction. Brent and his brother Bruce still own Santa Barbara County Habit Burgers. They will add locations in Buellton, Lompoc and Santa Maria in the next two years to complete the store’s offerings in the Santa Barbara County.
Brent has been married to his wife, Julianna, for 18 years and they have two children, Bennett, 16, and Alexandra, 13. In addition to working together in the burger business, Brent and his wife, Julianna, own commercial and residential properties.
Brent was a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2007 and the recipient of the 2008 Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Santa Barbara Scholarship Foundation. He has been involved with H4O since 2008 and a board member since 2012. He loves to incorporate support for H4O in both the Santa Barbara County Habits as well as at Hook Burger with the sale of the H4O water bottles, fundraisers as well as raising community awareness for the cause.
BA, interdisciplinary studies; MA, educational technology — fuels her vision, innovation, and leadership at PD Learning Network by blending experience in educational policy, eLearning, and standards-based design with business development expertise in the K-12 vendor space. She also serves on boards of directors for CUE and a charter school; and was the Chief Learning Officer of Lesson Planet. She regularly presents nationally on EdTech integration and teacher leadership.
Judson is an artist/entrepreneur and founder of the charitable jewelry brand, Benevolence LA. His award winning Los Angeles based video production company, Butter Video, boasts clients such as Microsoft, Universal, Verizon, Banana Republic, Loews Hotels, and Target. His feature films have been presented in over 40 film festivals winning top awards along the way. At the end of 2015, Benevolence LA was featured on ABC’s The View as a brand that gives back. Judson’s wife is an actress and the co-founder of Benevolence LA. They live in Los Angeles with their daughter, Ever.
Board Secretary & Legal Counsel
Earl Schurmer is the senior partner of the Law Offices of Schurmer & Drane. His law firm, originally founded over 25 years ago, specializes in civil litigation. Earl has extensive experience in complex matters such as Medical Malpractice and Products Liability. Mr. Schurmer acts as Judge Pro Tem in the Ventura and Santa Barbara Superior courts and has acted as Arbitrator and settlement officer in numerous cases in many jurisdictions. Mr. Schurmer hosts a weekly radio program in Ventura County designed to educate the public regarding current legal issues and topics. Mr. Schurmer has sat on a number of boards. Earl and his wife Rhonda have been married for 25 years. They currently live in Santa Barbara and are raising three children ages 22, 17 and 15.
As the National Director of Sales for Axia Payments and Commerce Solutions for last 9 years, Mr. Biegert has been instrumental in growing Axia into a top 5% largest electronic payments provider nationally. Before joining Axia, he was an Area Manager and won multiple sales awards in Specialty and Hospital Sales with Pfizer. Bret is also a former Collegiate Head Baseball Coach at Westmont College. At Westmont, he was the youngest Collegiate Head Baseball Coach in the nation for 3 years running. While at Westmont, he led Westmont to a Far West Regional Championship for their first time in the school’s history and helped develop and found many local youth summer camps in Santa Barbara, CA.
Mr. Biegert did undergraduate studies and played college baseball at Pepperdine University and Westmont College. He did post graduate work and earned a Secondary Education Teacher Credential from Westmont College’s Education Program. In his senior year at Westmont he won national recognition as a Collegiate Baseball Magazine’s National All-American Team 2nd Baseman and was All-League, All-District and All-Region First Team and an NAIA All American Award winner. Since his days as a student he has satisfied his passion for helping youth through founding and serving in many youth organizations. Currently, he serves as the President of Santa Barbara Youth Baseball and as Board of Trustee member for Partners in Christian Education and El Montecito School. Bret has been married to his wife Kirstin for over 16 years and has 2 children (Braeden 14 and Abigail-Grace 11). They live in Santa Barbara, CA.
Bret is currently and has been serving full-time as the Executive Pastor at Godspeak Calvary Chapel in Newbury Park, California for the past 5 years. Prior to coming to Godspeak CC, he served on staff as an Associate Pastor at Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara for over 7 years. Prior to his calling into full-time ministry, Bret spent more than 18 years in management & sales positions in the luxury hotel & hospitality industry (Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Birnam Wood Golf Club and San Ysidro Ranch). Bret also serves as the Board Secretary of Little Oaks School in Thousand Oaks, California and on the Board of Calvary Chapel in Malibu. In Bret’s spare time you will find him surfing, playing beach volleyball and spending time with his wife Susie and three kids, Zak, Sammy, and Malia.
Jeff is on staff with Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) at UC Santa Barbara and Santa Barbara City College. He and his wife Robyn taught elementary school and junior high for three years in San Luis Obispo county after graduating from Cal Poly, SLO. In 2005, they made the decision to resign from teaching and become full-time staff with Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ International), ministering to college students. They were on staff with Cru in San Diego for three years, and have now been doing the same at UC Santa Barbara and Santa Barbara City College since 2009. For the last decade, Jeff has been actively involved with the Global Missions department of Cru by going to the Middle East, Australia, and Central America while leading teams of students and coaching international Cru staff. Locally, he has played a large role in connecting H4O to the college campuses in Santa Barbara, and a team of students has emerged and created an H4O chapter at UCSB. Jeff enjoys being actively involved with his local church and discovering ways to get his family involved with helping serve locals in need. Jeff and Robyn live in Goleta, CA and have three daughters.
